Free Evite alternatives: what you get and what you give up
Free alternatives to Evite compared on ads, guest caps and RSVP depth, using published vendor pricing, so you know what free actually costs you.
Most people looking for a free Evite alternative are not looking to save money. Evite is already free. They are looking to stop showing third-party advertising to their guests next to their event details, without paying a per-event fee to do it.
What Evite free actually includes
Credit where it is due, the free tier is generous on capacity. Per Evite's own published pages: free designs, up to 750 guests, RSVP tracking, read receipts and a shareable link, with delivery by email, text or link. Guests do not need an account to reply. Registry and website links can be added.
The trade is advertising. Evite's own free-versus-Premium comparison lists "no ads" as a Premium-only feature, which means free invitations carry advertising your guests see. Removing ads, or adding envelopes, stickers, backgrounds or animated effects, converts the send to a paid Premium package: $17.99 for 12 guests, $36.99 for 30, $68.99 for 75 and $99.99 for up to 750, charged per event. Evite Pro is $249.99 a year for unlimited invitations up to 2,500 guests. Evite is also digital only, with no printed option.
Note the band structure, because it catches people out. A 100-guest party does not cost $68.99. It costs $99.99, because the $68.99 package stops at 75 guests.
Genuinely free alternatives
- Partiful. States it is 100 percent free with no paywalls and no per-event or per-guest charge. Custom questionnaires, text blasts, photo albums and co-hosts are all included. The cost is at the door: guests give a phone number and verify it by SMS code before they can RSVP. The Evite and Partiful comparison lays out where each one wins.
- Facebook Events. Free with no paid tier at all. Two real limits: each person can send only 500 invites per event, and responses are fixed to Going, Maybe or Cannot Go with no custom questions. Your guests also see your event inside an ad-supported network.
- Luma. A free forever plan with unlimited events and unlimited guests, capped at 500 invites or newsletters per week. Guests need no account. Built for meetups rather than celebrations, and there is no animated card format.
- Greetings Island. Its online RSVP tool is free with unlimited guests and no signup, including custom questions, deadlines and reminders. Free downloads carry a watermark, removable with premium at $26.99 a year or a single invitation purchase at $8.99.
- Google Forms. Free with no response charge and no ads, and unlimited custom questions. It has no guest list, no per-guest link and no invitation design of any kind, so it collects answers rather than tracking who was invited.
- RSVPify. Free for up to 100 invitees per event with email invitations and guest tracking. Above that, Gold is $10 a month for 300 guests.
Free tiers that are narrower than they look
- Mixily shows no ads on any plan, including free, which is unusual. But the free plan stops at 50 invites and 40 RSVPs per event, so a 100-guest party needs Lite at $19 a month and 250 guests needs Pro at $29.
- Hobnob, now Zazzle Events, gives unlimited email invites at no credit cost, so an email-only send is free at any size. Text invites are metered: free members get 10 credits a month, Essentials is $19.99 a year for 70 credits and Premium $59.99 for 310.
- Punchbowl has no permanent free tier. After a 7-day trial a paid membership is required, and ads are shown on every plan below Platinum, which is from $5.99 a month.
- SignUpGenius is free with unlimited sign-up pages, but shows third-party ads on the pages and in the emails it sends. Ad-free starts at Silver, $11.99 a month.
The question to ask
Every free product monetises somewhere. Work out where before you send, because you cannot un-show an advert to 200 guests. The four honest answers in this market are: ads to your guests, a guest cap, friction at the reply, or a different revenue line entirely such as registry and printing. Products in the fourth group tend to be the most comfortable for hosts, and the full alternatives page groups them that way.
