When SignUpGenius is the better choice
SignUpGenius is not trying to make an invitation, and judging it as one would be unfair. Judged as what it is: Schools, sports teams, churches and volunteer coordinators filling time slots or item lists who can live with ads on a free account.
- Free tier has no published cap on sign-up pages or participants
- Purpose-built slot logic: dates, times, quantities, wish lists, volunteer hours reports
- Email invites and automatic reminders included at no cost
- Collects payments with no monthly fee, at 5% plus $0.50 per transaction
Where Dawat does not compete with it:
- Digital only: Dawat does not print or mail paper stationery
And where SignUpGenius will cost you something:
- Free accounts show third-party ads on sign-up pages and in the emails sent
- Ad-free is licensed per sign up: 1 on Silver, 10 on Gold, unlimited on Platinum
- Custom questions are capped at 2 (Silver), 5 (Gold) and 10 (Platinum)
- No invitation design or animation; output is a sign-up sheet page
- Text invites are paid-only: 150, 500 or 1,500 per month by tier
What SignUpGenius costs, in dollars
As of September 2026: Free plan with unlimited ad-supported sign-up pages; Silver $11.99/month ($107.89/year), Gold $29.99/month ($269.89/year), Platinum $59.99/month ($539.89/year). Payments collected cost 5% plus $0.50 per transaction.
18 of the 33 platforms tracked here can send an invitation without payment. SignUpGenius is one of them, and Dawat is another.
| Dawat | SignUpGenius | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Free | Free tier, paid upgrades |
| 100 guests | Free | Free (ads shown) |
| 250 guests | Free | Free (ads shown) |
| How that is worked out | Dawat has no per-guest or per-send charge, so the guest count does not change the price. | Sign-up pages are unlimited and free at any participant count; the cost is ads, and removing them on one sign up starts at Silver, $11.99/month. |
Dawat is free to send. SignUpGenius can also be used without paying; the differences are in what each free tier includes, which the table below sets out.
The guest experience compared
A form asks a question. An invitation makes someone want to answer it. Your guest experiences whichever one you sent, and the response rate follows.
| Feature | Dawat | SignUpGenius |
|---|---|---|
| Guest account required | No | Not published |
| Ads shown to guests | No | Yes |
| Animated envelope | Yes | No |
| Per-guest personal links | Yes | Not published |
| Open tracking | Yes | Partial |
| Calendar file | Yes | Not published |
| Multilingual & right-to-left | Yes | Not published |
On Dawat, the link is addressed to the person holding it. The envelope opens with their name on it, their RSVP is already prefilled, and answering is one tap. SignUpGenius does not publish whether it addresses each guest individually.
What happens as the list grows
Guest count is not the axis here — SignUpGenius does not bill per recipient. The thing that changes as the list grows is administration: chasing replies, keeping a headcount honest, and knowing who never opened the thing. Dawat gives every guest their own link, so the dashboard shows sent, opened and answered per person instead of a pile of replies you have to reconcile.
Switching, or running both
You can keep SignUpGenius for anything that genuinely is a form, and use Dawat for the invitation. Most hosts find they stop needing the form once the RSVP questions live inside the invitation.
If you are moving across, the fastest route is Dawat's import: paste the link to your existing invitation and Dawat reads the wording, date, venue and colour mood off the page and rebuilds it as a prefilled draft you can edit. Guest lists come in from your phone's contacts, a .vcf file, or pasted text.
What does not come across: SignUpGenius's designs, and any replies already collected there. Export your RSVPs before you switch, and send the Dawat invitation only to the people who have not answered.

Questions
Is SignUpGenius free?
Yes. The free plan includes unlimited sign-up pages, email invites and reminders, duplicate and transfer of sign ups, and admin tools. SignUpGenius states that ads may be visible to people signing up through a free account, and that ads fund the free tier.
How do I remove ads from SignUpGenius?
Ads are removed with an ad-free license on a paid plan. Silver ($11.99/month or $107.89/year) covers 1 ad-free sign up at a time, Gold ($29.99/month or $269.89/year) covers 10, and Platinum ($59.99/month or $539.89/year) covers unlimited.
How much does SignUpGenius cost?
Three paid tiers: Silver $11.99/month or $107.89/year, Gold $29.99/month or $269.89/year, Platinum $59.99/month or $539.89/year. Collecting money carries no monthly fee but costs 5% of the amount collected plus $0.50 per transaction.
Can you send invitations with SignUpGenius?
You can send email invites and themed email invites plus automatic reminders, and text invites on paid plans (150/month on Silver up to 1,500/month on Platinum). These are sign-up notifications, not designed or animated invitation cards.
Is Dawat free?
Yes. All 53 card designs and every party-page theme, unlimited guests, unlimited sends, RSVP tracking, custom questions and the per-guest analytics cost nothing, and no card is required. The only paid item is a Dawat Signature cinematic experience at $89 once for that event, and it is labelled as paid before you publish.
Does Dawat have designs as good as SignUpGenius?
Dawat's 53 designs are animated card experiences with an envelope opening, plus 8 long-scroll Signature experiences. Whether that beats SignUpGenius depends on whether you want a designed occasion or a quick notice.
Can I send printed invitations from Dawat?
No. Dawat is digital only. SignUpGenius does not print either.

How these figures were checked
Every figure above was read from SignUpGenius's own published pricing or help pages on 16 September 2026, and each source is linked below. Coins, credits and per-card rates are converted into dollars at a real guest count, because that is the number you are deciding with. Full methodology and the open dataset →
Reading this through an AI assistant? Dawat runs an MCP server, so ChatGPT or Claude can choose the design, write the wording, add your guest list, publish the invitation and send it without you leaving the conversation. SignUpGenius has none.
